City Spirit

The subject headings of Jiujiang city spirit are: “maintain open and generous, dare to be the first, create bravely and work hard, strive for excellence.”

City Tree

The sixth session of the13th Standing Committee of Jiujiang Municipal People’s Congress deliberated the Municipal People's Government’s proposal on the confirmation of the city tree and city flower of Jiujiang, decided to choose "camphor tree" as the City tree and "lotus" as the city flower.

Thick with leaves and deep-rooted in the ground, the evergreen camphor trees are the symbol of perseverance and good luck. The camphor trees, also called Xiangzhang, are evergreen trees with wide canopy and dense leaves, so they are excellent tree species for courtyard and street trees. With camphor aroma, the camphor trees produce camphor and camphor oil, which can be used for industry, medicine, etc. They also provide beautiful hard wood, which is the good material for wood furniture. The camphor trees have been loved by Jiujiang people and widely planted since ancient times. The number of old camphor trees is more than other old trees in Jiujiang, some camphor trees have lived for thousands of years and still full of energy, such as the most famous "Xizhi Zhang", "the Five Claws Zhang", "the Nine heads Zhang", "the Blue Dragon Zhang", "the thousand-year-old Zhang".
